Field Engineer - Magnolia, TX

The Field Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electronic equipment and control systems, including the programming of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and the configuration and implementation of all associated devices that are controlled in the system. This role is largely hands-on, involving both technical expertise in electronics and a deep understanding of industrial automation systems to ensure equipment functions optimally across all operations.

OBJECTIVES

  • Ensure the successful installation, configuration, and commissioning of industrial and automation systems, strictly adhering to technical manuals and client specifications.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and advanced system diagnostics to optimize the performance and reliability of automated control systems.
  • Swiftly troubleshoot and resolve system issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted operations.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain PLC and HMI, Data Collection, and Analytic control systems to support diverse industrial automation requirements, aligning with project goals.
  • Design and interpret wiring schematics, blueprints, and system documentation for the installation, repair, and maintenance of control systems.
  • Engage in circuit design and hardware configuration, selecting components and optimizing
    for eƯiciency, reliability, and performance.
  • Implement system upgrades, modifications, and the integration of new technologies to enhance functionality and meet evolving industry standards.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and clients, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of system operations and maintenance.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time for site installations, troubleshooting, and system commissioning.

COMPETENCIES

  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and resolving electronic and system malfunctions, utilizing advanced testing and calibration techniques.
  • Proficiency in creating and interpreting detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, and system documentation.
  • Strong background in PLC and HMI programming, with a deep understanding of industrial automation and control communications networks.
  • Skilled in designing and optimizing PLC and HMI programs during commissioning to enhance the performance and functionality of industrial automation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of testing equipment, such as Volt meters, mA generators, etc.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry communication standards and safety compliance, including MODBUS, ProfNet, Profibus, and TCP/IP network setups.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, TIA Portal, and Rockwell/Allen Bradley programming.
  • Effective leadership and project management capabilities, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Adept at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and extensive experience working directly with customers, ensuring their needs are met and technical solutions are clearly explained.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in control systems maintenance, repair, and PLC programming.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard diagnostic and testing tools.
